The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering came into existence at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in 1994, by the approval of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), to meet the growing requirement of practical design engineers in the country and abroad. Since its commencement, the primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of Electronics and Communication systems to produce technologists of highest caliber.

The mission of the founding fathers of this great institution serves as a beacon light for all the stakeholders, and inspires in making this department as one of the best in this institution of higher learning and in providing cutting edge learning experience, internationally benchmarked education, intellectual freedom and critical research opportunities in frontier areas of contemporary concern.

The department has come a long way since its inception, keeping pace with the changing needs and expectations of the society by simultaneously and successfully performing the multiple roles of creating new knowledge, acquiring new capabilities and producing an intelligent human resource pool for the promotion of economic growth, cultural development, social cohesion, equity and justice.

The Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with strong commitment to engineering education who work with zeal and enthusiasm to provide a vibrant and optimum learning environment. To keep pace with the current technological trends, the department has a well-designed, constantly reviewed syllabus to incorporate all advancements in existing and emerging technologies which gives the students a holistic and pragmatic view of the present scenario of the Electronics and Communication industry. The academic program is designed to enable growth and learning in a highly focused and application-based environment and is achieved through a combination of formal lectures and hands-on experience in well-equipped labs. The state-of-the-art laboratories, such as VLSI lab, Digital Image Processing Lab, Circuit Simulation Lab, Instrumentation & Sensor Lab, Communication Lab, complement the high standards set by the competitive syllabus and nurture the inclination of the students towards research and development, besides giving them the necessary and sufficient backing of practical knowledge that they need. The Department provides access to high end software like QUAL NET, OrCAD-16.3, Xilinx, TCAD, ANSYS HFSS, Cadence Suite and MATLAB. Technical Co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the students include participation in paper presentation, workshops, seminars, quizzes, technical competitions and participation in cultural activities channelized through various clubs and events in the university.

The Department runs B.Tech., M.Tech. and PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Department currently has 38 research scholars working in the areas of Microelectronics & VLSI, Digital Signal Processing, Communication Engineering including Mobile and Wireless Communication, Analog Signal Processing and Digital Signal Processing. The Research Scholars are required to attend course work before they actually start work on their problem. 41 PhDs have already been awarded to research scholars.

Candidates from the department who are pursuing further studies are doing immensely well in both India and abroad. In India, our students are present in large numbers at IIM’s, IIT’s and NIT’s and international presence can be seen in U. S. A, UK, Germany, Australia, Switzerland and Canada to name a few. Each year, a large number of our students also qualify the GATE exam with high percentile.
