7th DBT-BIF National Workshop on Translational Bioinformatics was organized by Department of Computer Science and funded by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology held during February 15-16, 2017 which was a great success.
The inaugural program was presided by honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Talat Ahmad, whereas Prof. GPS Raghava was chief guest who is currently serving as Professor in IIIT Delhi, with the graceful presence of dignitaries such as Dean FNS Prof. Sharif Ahmad, HoD Prof. SAM Rizvi, Heads and Directors, invited guests, participants. Chief Guest Prof. Raghava worked as scientist for 30 years (1986-2016) in Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh. His group developed more than 200 web servers, 150 research papers, 70 Copyrights, 25 databases and mirror sites. He got following major awards/recognition: Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Biological Science, “National Bioscience Award for Carrier Development” for year 2005-2006 (by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. India); J. C. Bose national fellowship 2010 by DST; fellow of National Academy of Sciences (F.N.A.Sc); and fellow of Indian Academy of Science (F.A.Sc.). His research interests include: Bioinformatics Application on Protein Modelling/Engineering, Genomics and Informatics Solutions for integrating Biology (GENESIS), Integrative approach for designing biomolecules for cancer therapy, Application of bioinformatics in System Biology. He delivered very insightful and inspiring talk in the inaugural session.

Total of 48 participants were registered, consisting of faculty members/Ph.D. Scholars from JMI, Banasthali, KIET Ghaziabad, Galgotias, and other universities, besides students of M.Sc. (Biotechnology)/M.Tech. (Biotechnology), MCA, M.Sc. (Bioinformatics) etc.
