Jamia Senior Secondary School offers National Cadet Crops (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) activities on the campus to stimulate interests and create a sense of participation in matter of national defence and orient the youth to community service.
Jamia Senior Secondary School happens to be only school in India to provide each and every facility to its cadets which the National RD institute provides. The NCC administration of Jamia inspect the student and select some of the most devoted and capables once.
It provides them training in regular short term camps. The training is given in several steps and it includes parade, section attack which is done by crawling on hands and feet, fire fighting, quarter guard, Para jumping rappling which other name for rock climbing and self defence. On the eve of Foundation Day it is marked by a pompous 'Guard of Honour' followed by an interesting cultural programme.
N.S.S.
This scheme is an organized group for the social service of the locality, which acquires the patronage of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. This scheme aims at making efforts to create an understanding of social issues among the students and sharing it with the people. During last ten years, the N.S.S unit of Jamia Millia Islamia has played a significant role in catering social service. Under this scheme, students organized literacy programmes for the children belonging to economically backward class and contributed with a few moments of happiness for them through group sports and cultural programmes. Every year two camps are held for the students participating in N.S.S where they are imparted with practical training of various activities. Certificates are given to them. In our school, N.S.S program Officer is Mr. Abdul Quddus Ansari.
Sports
Jamia Senior Secondary school also excels in providing sports facilities to the students of all the classes. The Students also participate with full passion and enthusiasm to display their talent in the field of sports. The games include cricket, football, baseketball, volleyball, badminton, hockey and others. The school provides sports kits for the respective games. The Annual Sports Day is an event of great enthusiasm and here's where one can actually see the glitter of self pride on the face of every sportsman, something to be identified as a legacy of Jamia.
Cultural
In order to refresh the body and soul, to restrict the piling of mental pressure due to tedious hard work which a student goes through as per his daily routine, the school organises many cultural programmes. Some of them worth mentioning are - Teachers Day, which itself teaches the value of obedience, Foundation Day reminding of the Himalayan toil and struggle undergone by the founders of Jamia. The school administration also organizes competition of Gazal, Naat, Shayri, Debate, Extempore as it very keen in creating a sense of participation and sharpening the in born abilities of students whom it treat as its ambassadors.
Hamari Speaker
Our School, Jamia Senior Secondary School(S/F) was invited by Lok Sabha TV show "Hamari Speaker" on the occasion of the celebration of 60th year of Indian Parliament Democracy on 25th April 2012. 23 students and 4 teachers of our school participated in interaction-session with Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha Mrs. Meira Kumar. Lok Sabha TV conducted 12 sessions (with different themes) spreading awareness about Parliamentary Democracy among school students and youth. Our Session with Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha was the last one. Its theme was “The First Lok Sabha”. The Hon’ble Speaker shared very interesting information regarding first Lok Sabha as she answered different questions of students. Members of Parliament of First Lok Sabha were very senior. Average age of the members was 47. They were highly qualified-37% Graduate, 17% Post Graduate and 37 were Advocates. First Legislative bill of Lok Sabha was on untouchability. Hon’ble Speaker also told that members of Lok Sabha do homework for meetings and interaction such as with the students and so on. It was a memorable and motivating event for students and Teachers.
